BN defeated due to lies, slanders, and empty promises: Najib

Former premier Najib Abdul Razak reiterated that BN's defeat in GE14 was due to an uneven playing field further marred by lies, slanders and empty promises by Pakatan Harapan.
He declared this during a meet-up with his supporters at the PWTC Putra World Trade Centre KL.
Surrounded by about 1,000 staunch supporters in the Tun Hussein Onn Hall, Najib said he believed that the coalition could have won if the playing field was even.
"We lost because of lies, slanders, and empty promises. If there was an even playing field, I believe that Umno could win," he said.
During the get-together, Najib did not mention beleaguered sovereign wealth fund 1MDB except for an indirect reference to the Tun Razak Exchange development which he credited to BN.
Najib urged his supporters to save Umno as the party had not done anything wrong but had instead tremendously contributed to the development of the people and the country.
He stressed that he will remain with Umno despite the trials and tribulations he is currently facing.
"My flesh and blood is with Umno and BN. If you pushed my head into the water 10 times, I will still remain with Umno.
"I have no intention to open a new party. We have to save Umno and BN," he said.
'Less tourists'
Meanwhile, Najib also claimed the cancellation of mega-projects he initiated with China had taken its toll on the tourism industry in Malaysia.
"Tourist arrivals from China dropped by 35 percent. The country's loss from that amounted to RM13 billion.
"Hotels, taxi drivers, and shop owners have suffered losses," he said.
Najib said that the High-Speed Rail (HSR) which was planned to link Singapore and Kuala Lumpur could potentially bring in more tourists from China and the latter could spend their money in this country.
"I created HSR because many Chinese tourists come via Singapore. They would have taken only an hour and a half to come to Kuala Lumpur.
"That would have benefited us. The delay of two years for the project will result in the country losing billions of ringgit in revenue," he said. - Mkini
