Pakatan Harapan will discuss the discrepancy between the government's PTPTN loan payment policy and its manifesto.
Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, who is also a member of Parti Amanah Negara, said it would be one of the issues to be discussed in the Pakatan Harapan presidential meeting this evening.
"I'm one of the individuals responsible for crafting the manifesto. I know this issue has to be looked at.
"Certainly, the implementation (regarding the PTPTN debt settlement) is different. I will bring up this issue with my friends in a meeting later," he told a press conference after witnessing the launch of 'Active Lifestyle Campaign' in Shah Alam.
Dzulkefly said while the announcement regarding PTPTN by the Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng was different from what has been stated in the manifesto, the objective remained the same - to help the PTPTN borrowers.
Yesterday, Lim announced new repayment scheme during the tabling of Pakatan Harapan's inaugural Budget 2019.
Lim said the repayment of loans would be made through scheduled deductions of between two and 15 percent from the borrower's salary.
It will only apply to those who earn RM1,000 per month and above. However, Lim did not state whether the loan repayment was mandatory or not.
Pakatan Harapan in its manifesto had pledged to postpone the repayment of PTPTN (National Higher Education Fund) student loans for all graduates whose salaries are below RM4,000 per month and abolish the blacklisting policy for defaulters. - Mkini
