NOT SOLAR PANEL? MUST BE OTHER KICKBACKS THEN: NAJIB SAYS GRILLED BY MACC FOR 4 HOURS OVER OTHER MATTERS – NOT SARAWAK SCHOOLS PROJECT

PUTRAJAYA: Former prime minister Najib Razak left the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters here today after about four hours of questioning.
He was seen leaving the building at 1.55pm.
Earlier reports said he was believed to have been summoned by anti-graft officials to facilitate investigations into several cases including a solar panel project for schools in rural Sarawak.
However, in a Twitter post shortly after leaving MACC, he said he was called in for questioning but not about the solar panel project.
Former education minister Mahdzir Khalid was previously called up by MACC as well over the same case.
Najib’s former special officer meanwhile was detained for six days in July to aid in investigations into the matter.
He was investigated over claims that he had solicited kickbacks from a Bintulu company given the project.
Sarawak Report, which alleged that the project was awarded to the company without an open tender, claimed Najib had endorsed the RM1.25 billion project to install solar panels in 369 schools.
