NABAWAN: Tension is building at PKR’s polling centre in Pensiangan as the registration process is sluggish and holding up ballot-casting.
Incumbent division chief Raymond Ahuar said that as of 11am, there were already 4,000 members at the polling centre at the Nabawan Community Hall here – but many had yet to vote.
“Our supporters are queueing at designated lanes for their choice of candidates.
“I was informed that there are already 2,000 women and 1,800 men for my side,” he told the NSTP.
Raymond, however, expressed dissatisfaction that machines used to scan voters’ QR codes for registration are slow and hampering the e-voting process.
“Thousands of my supporters are still standing in queues, while only a few are in the hall for voting.
“It is a race against time, and I will lose my votes, as this election will close in five hours,” he said, adding that the election committee is expected to stop the process at 4pm.
Raymond is defending the division chief post against Salleh Benedict.
The division, which has about 11,000 members, is re-running the election, as last week’s polling hours were extended beyond what was permissible.
